What modulates our Sun? The majority of science work on the principle that the Sun is self modulating and each solar cycle is a product of a random number generator. There are others that suspect the Sun is modulated by the planets with a special emphasis on Uranus & Neptune. Thanks to Carl Smith who has recently left us we have new knowledge that significantly adds to Jose, Landscheidt & Charvàtovà's work.

No one special, but I have now built an "about me" page.

Hi- I think you should let us decide about the 'no-one' special tag.
I have been watching this site for a year or two, and it is a breath of fresh air.
I am a formal, card-carrying layman, many rungs below your good self Mr Sharp. Nevertheless, I have made weather recordings since 1978, first in England, and for 20 years in Scotland. in 1981, I became interested in solar cycles, and recorded my thoughts. I still have the charts I made then, and the guesstimate at the bottom of the page, which says 'so the next really low low should be approximately 2010, which should result in a truly severe winter' Just a lucky guess for a young'un, no doubt. But if it's so clear to even the most uninitiated after just a little basic mathematics, why are we still trying to justify to the mainstream?
I work for the emergency services up here. Last year, I was able to persuade my people to buy more 4X4 vehicles and winter supplies, based on the effects of a true minimum. That lives have - and will continue to be saved is undoubted. That may sound dramatic, but it's the day-to-day job for us.
Your work is incredibly important to me, and I'm sure to many others. That makes you 'special'. Keep it going, and thankyou.
