question

What modulates our Sun? The majority of science work on the principle that the Sun is self modulating and each solar cycle is a product of a random number generator. There are others that suspect the Sun is modulated by the planets with a special emphasis on Jupiter. Thanks to Carl Smith who has recently left us we have new knowledge that significantly adds to Jose's and Landscheidt's work.

A Laymans question.

I have a Laymans question for you. How does the sun cause the warming of the earth?  Is it the protons, flux, magnetic feilds, or something else.

Thank You,

Susann

The question has been answered.

Yes, I am just learning about the sun. After looking on line, I found the this link

http://dev.nsta.org/ssc/moreinfo.asp?id=947 . The link is for high school teachers from the National Science Teachers Association. The explanation is quite detailed but here is the simple answer I was looking for. “

The sun emits energy as electromagnetic radiation” Then “Terrestrial radiation is produced mainly as a result of reradiation of solar radiation.” So this must mean when the sunspots are low in number the electromagnetic radiation is low making harder for the earth to produce warmth.

Many thanks go to Carl's brother Dave for providing the Domain, Server and Software.
